Note on Minimum System Requirements - Users are cautioned not
to rely on manufacturers' recommendations concerning minimum system
requirements when putting together a speech recognition system. There is
a world of difference between minimum and optimum requirements, and how
powerful a system you need depends on several factors, including what
kind of operating system you're using. For example, many users think
Windows Millennium is not good for voice-recognition, in general;
Windows 2000 is considered infinitely better, and you'd probably need
256 MB RAM for optimum performance (even running "lean and
mean"; see Rose's
web site about that); if you have an NT system, which uses enormous
memory all by itself, you'd want 384 MB RAM. A fast processor will help

DEMACS is a set of utilities that improves (I hope) the use of EMACS with Dragon Dictate.
The utilities concentrate on cursor, window and framecontrol, editing, speech friendly
menus, programming aids (C, Lisp and Latex) and some more stuff. DEMACS is pure lisp-code
and .dcm/.ddxfiles and works equally well with DD for DOS with A2X and with DD for
windows. For those who wants a closer look at the utilities, I've attached the manual in
viewable form. The whole utility pack is attached too.

Also included are some instructions for installing them. He uses a fair number of tricks
with the SetHomeGroup scripting command, so they may not be to everyone's taste, and also

bugs. On the *front* of each NaturallySpeaking Version 5 CD-ROM
there is a number.
