It is said that the body follows the eyes . . .
Lighting should be adequate to enable the operator to see the text and screen, but
not so bright to cause glare. Where used, work station lighting should be easily
adjustable and directed at source documents and not at the display screen surface.

Questions about the safety of the visual display terminal (VDT) workstation, especially
its effect on the human eye, have increased since the introduction of the VDT nearly
thirty years ago. This information was written to inform vision care professionals on
technical issues related to visual discomfort and to increase their awareness of
environmental factors affecting the visual system and proper usage of the VDT.

The proper amount of light must always take into account the human visual requirements for
a task. Proper lighting, however, is a relative term. Lighting that is good for one task
may be inappropriate for another. This section covers some considerations when specifying
or evaluating lighting conditions.

Hello Scott,
Thank you for your timely responce!
Our systems are intended for any 24-hour business. However, the initial installations were
focused on capital intensive or safety sensitive industries such as power production or
chemical processing. The NASA astronauts have been using it since 1991. We have recently
installed a system in a manufacturing environment. Basically anyone who works the night
shift can benefit.
Thank you once again,
Nick
